Hill College House
Floss Barber, Inc. collaborated with Penn and Mills + Schnoering Architects on interior design concepts and execution for the 15-month, $80 million renovation of Hill College House at the University of Pennsylvania. Designed by Finnish American architect Eero Saarinen, the midcentury modern landmark reopened to 500 students in August 2017.
The renovation preserved Saarinen’s design intent while transforming the building into a modern, accessible, and welcoming student residence. Flooring patterns, finish selection, furniture, and arrangement of public spaces all took cues from midcentury modern design and the patterns and details found in Saarinen’s other work.
