Urban townhouse

Seasoned art collectors, the owners of this three-story, 1800s building wanted a modern backdrop for their art collection. In 2005, blending the historic architecture with classic modern furniture, we melded qualities of Impressionism with abstract and sculptural forms.

We lined the giant staircase with Chinese sandstone floors. We restored the original, traditional woodwork, which forms an arched doorway, and built bookcases. We highlighted every detail of home and art with custom lighting as if it were a gallery.

Muslin mesh adorns the large, ample windows, the flow from the two-story living space, and other Asian influences so the entire space becomes a backdrop to the immense art collection.
